Sarnia Transit Route 9 Frequency Reduction
By City Staff
The 2017 Council-approved Operating Budget includes reduced summer frequency to Sarnia Transit Route 9.
Route 9 begins at the downtown terminal and provides service to Exmouth Street, London Road, Heritage Park, and the UWO Research Park. Currently, Route 9 operates at a 15 minute frequency.
The summer weekday reduction will change service to a 30 minute frequency. The frequency reduction will be in effect starting July 3, 2017 until September 2, 2017. Regular weekday service will resume on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, after the Labour Day holiday.
Route 9 Summer Frequency Reduction – Weekday Schedule:
- Route 9 leaves Murphy Road terminal for downtown beginning at 6:30 a.m. every 30 minutes until 6:30 p.m.
- Weekday evening schedule remains unchanged
In order to reduce service gaps within the Heritage Park area, this area will be serviced via Route 14 Sherwood on an hourly frequency. Route 14 will be expanded into the Heritage Park area to replace the service that route 9 currently provides. This service will be accommodated at top of the hour route. This Route 14 service will be on call only. Intending passengers will contact the Transit office at 519-336-3271 during regular business hours to request a pick up. Passengers wishing to be dropped off at Heritage Park must identify themselves to the driver.
Passengers will be informed through the use of internal bus advertising, media announcements and flyers for the residents of Heritage Park.
