City Council Highlights - November 6

The following are highlights of the November 6, 2017, Special Regular Sarnia City Council Meeting.

Approved a submission to the National Trade Corridor Fund (NTCF) for 50% funding of the $12 million estimated project cost for the Oversize Load Corridor.

  • Approved $4,715,000 of funding for the Oversize Load Corridor, conditional upon approval of NTCF funding ($6 million) and partner funding by County of Lambton and St. Clair Township ($1,275,000), and the Sarnia Lambton Industrial Alliance ($10,000).
  • The Oversize Load Corridor will expand opportunities for the export of large oversized equipment from area fabricators to both national and international markets by creating a dedicated and protected transportation pathway from these fabricators to the deep water harbour at the Port of Sarnia. It is anticipated this will result in significant local employment and a 30 year increase in the growth of local, provincial and national Gross Domestic Product.

Authorized a Site Plan Development Control Agreement for the redevelopment of 481-503 London Road (London Road Diagnostic Clinic and Medical Centre).

The next Regular Meeting of Sarnia City Council will be held on November 20, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
