The 2018 Municipal Election will take place on Monday, October 22nd.
You can vote 24/7 from Thursday, October 11 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018.
The Municipal Clerk is the Returning Officer and conducts elections for the following offices:
- City/County Councillors
- City Councillors
- School Board Trustees
On November 14, 2016 Council passed a resolution which will allow for internet/telephone voting for the 2018 Municipal Election. The City participated in a joint RFP for internet/telephone voting service providers with other Lambton County municipalities: Lambton Shores, Oil Springs, Petrolia, Point Edward, Plympton-Wyoming and Warwick.
Eligible electors can vote using a telephone, computer, cell phone, iPad, tablet, or laptop. This is an accessible, environmentally-friendly, and convenient method of voting. Internet voting provides voters with flexibility and convenience, reduces wait times at voting locations, delivers quick and accurate results, and allows students and vacationers to vote from anywhere.
If you do not have access to a device to vote online or if you require assistance, you may visit Sarnia City Hall from October 11 to October 22 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays, and on Saturdays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. On October 22, the following locations will provide voter assistance on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm: Sarnia City Hall, Clearwater Arena, St. Patrick’s Catholic High School, and Bright’s Grove Public School.
You will be able to vote in advance of Election Day. The voting period is still being established as the City Clerks Department develops procedures.
Please continue to check this website and other City information channels for updated internet/telephone voting information and upcoming education sessions in 2018.
