Canada 150 Mosaic
City of Sarnia
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the City of Sarnia participated in a nation-wide project to create a mural including all provinces and territories, comprised of over 80,000 paintings and 150 individual murals that when connected, forms one gigantic mural mosaic. The united mural represents a cultural mosaic, a time capsule, a visual portrayal of history, and an art masterpiece from the soul of the nation. Our community mural now resides on the second floor of City Hall, permanently. This mural serves as a reminder of the 150th anniversary, and the pride of the community and the nation. Sarnia’s conceptual mosaic design is depicted in picture below, followed by the completed design. Two workshops were held: Saturday June 10, 2017 at Kids Funfest, Clearwtaer Park, and Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in front of City Hall. Community members took part by painting their own 4 inch tile that is now embedded in our community mural.
